In Solidarity With Mateo

Martin Luther King famously said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”*

The above video link tells of the lawless behavior of the police officers who beat up “Mateo,” lied in their reports, and thereby subjected Mateo to the shame of felony and misdemeanor criminal charges, as well as significant physical and emotional injuries.

But for highly skilled, pro bono criminal representation, and exculpatory body-worn camera video, there would have been a very different ending for Mateo, and there would be no prospect of accountability for the abuse of police power.

Mateo’s physical and emotional injuries, and the impact on his family and work, are significant. We hope there will be civil compensation in the long run, but for now, your help is requested.
