Light up Our neighborhood!
Our neighborhood is in desperate need of street lights and desperately need your help. The street lights we have pretty much came with the neighborhood when it was built back in 1948. With times being difficult and safety a serious concern, our neighbors don't trust that their children are safe in the evenings to go outdoors to play. You can't even see them when you drive through the neighborhood because it's so terribly dark. With your help, we can get at least 10 street lights and working with the city, we can have them installed in the more darkest areas, creating light so that children & families can come together in the evenings, and not be afraid or concerned they won't be seen.
These LED Street lights would add lighting to our streets and yet still be in compliance with Tuscon's "Dark Skies Ordinance", allowing the observatories to continue working and learning about our universe. As it stands now, our neighbors can see only as far as their porch or carport because that's how far their lights go. With street lights, we would be be able to see out to the street. This Pandemic hasn't helped. Our neighbors feel confined and unable to move further because the darkness creates a barrier to which they can't see or move past.
We have issues with drugs being dealt in plain site and no one sees because they do this in the shadows. With street lights placed on the darkest streets, the dealers and users would no longer be hanging out on our streets, in our park, and most importantly, near our children's places to play or their schools. Nor would they be able to entice our kids with drugs or be in the shadows doing crime.
Our children deserve a safe, lighted place to play, and our families and neighbors deserve to know their kids can ride bikes safely in the evenings and drivers can see them. More lights would help Tucson Police can see what they are dealing with when it comes to crime and drugs.
Pueblo Gardens NEEDS more Streetlights because the ones we have are not adequate and do not provide proper lighting in the neighborhood. We are a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. $50,000.00 would give us 5 lights, & $100,000.00 would give us 10 LED lights that the city would install and maintain.
The lights would comply with the dark skies ordinance and my neighbors would be safer. Their kids could ride their bikes without worry of not being seen and getting run over. Neighbors would feel safer going to the sidewalk in front of their homes
and visit with their fellow neighbors without risk of catching a drug deal in progress. Lights would give our kids a safer Trick or Treat. Their parents won’t feel so nervous or scared to take the kids out or the kids getting hit by a car. Yes it has happened.
Please, won’t you take a moment to help light up a very old and very important neighborhood? Pueblo Gardens NEEDS lights.

We are a poor neighborhood, doesn't mean we don't deserve a better or a safer, lighted place to play for our kids.
Pueblo Gardens is a proud, hard working, family oriented, poor neighborhood. We are diverse in our people and language, culture. Our neighbors look out for one another and several generations live here. We hope you can help us raise funds for street lights. Our children and families deserve an environment where they feel safe knowing they can see their kids and be outdoors in the evenings. Where drivers can see when the kids are riding their bikes, playing basketball in front of their or their friends houses.
We sincerely hope you will help our neighborhood light up our streets. Your support and monies are tax deductible because we are a 501c3. We hope you can help us light up Pueblo Gardens neighborhood. We wish to Thank you in advance.
