Help shave my head for the Baradeau family

On the 26th of April my dear client Virgil, aged 34, lost his short lived battle with an aggressive cancer that took him away from his young family. Virgil was an amazing husband, father, son and brother. I had been cutting his hair for almost a decade and during that time I had the pleasure of getting to know not only him but also his beautiful wife Adeline and more recently his young children, Sophia age 2 and William age 5.
Shortly after Virgil's haircut with me in late January, Adeline informed me that Virgil had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. He had been feeling some back pain in mid January and after seeing a physio and GP, went to the Emergency Department on March 5th. He was there diagnosed with a metastasised cancer, undefined (primary site unknown), already spread in multiple locations (bones, lungs and liver).
After 4 weeks of being in the hospital, Virgil asked me to come and shave his head because most of his hair had fallen out from chemo. When I arrived to his room he had a beautiful family photo on the wall that made me smile. I remembered the last time I cut his son Willliam's hair, William cried his eyes out because it was too short. Virgil later sent me a message letting me know as soon as he got some food he was happy again.
After I finished shaving Virgil's hair in the hospital, he asked me take a selfie with him so he could document the whole process. This gave me hope that everything would be okay. I think Virgil really believed that he would get better and he would be back home soon with his family, where he belonged. I brought him some books and a new beanie to keep his head warm and we had a little laugh before I said goodbye. I didn't realise at that time, but I would be the last visitor Virgil had.
The back pain Virgil was was experiencing was caused by the pathological fractures in his vertebrae induced by the metastasis. Sadly after being in hospital for 7 short weeks, Virgil lost his battle while holding his wife's hand. Adeline lost her beloved husband and Sophia and William lost their devoted father.
We will never know what caused that cancer, where it started, just that there is no genetic dimension to it and it can happen to any of us, at any time. These types of cancers account for about 5% of total cancers and are non-curable today.
Virgil, you were young and healthy and you fought bravely for 7 weeks. Your cancer was aggressive and never really gave you a chance. I know that you and Adeline are originally from France so all of your family are there unable to get here to help Adeline, Sophia and William during this terrible time.
I have started this Go Fund Me Page in the hope of raising $10,000 to help support your family for their future needs. If I succeed I pledge to you that I will shave my head (and you know how important my hair is to me) in honour of your life. You will be greatly missed by those who have been lucky enough to have been a part of your life. Rest In Peace Virgil.
