Vidushi came to Canada five short months ago with her husband and 3 children. She didn't have a chance to settle in, get a job or make plans to secure the financial future of her kids.

If you knew Vidushi or even met her just once, you’d know the kind of person she was immediately. Vidushi was the kind of person that was so soft spoken, so attentive to your needs, so accommodating, that to be in her presence was to feel loved.

Sadly Vidushi passed away from Covid-19 on June 7th, 2021 after a month long stay in the hospital. She immigrated to Canada just five months ago with her husband and 3 young children; Ananta (14), Narendra (13) and Hadassah (2). Vidushi had mixed reservations about coming to Canada especially during the pandemic, however that is the nature of Immigration bureaucracy and there were not many options available. She ultimately decided to come so that she could give her children a better life here in Canada despite knowing how hard first generation immigrants have to work. She was determined to not only do her best, but to help out her extended family as much as she could while encouraging her sons, bright boys already, to excel academically as they had done in school back in Guyana. While helping her boys navigate the new terrain of at-home learning in Canada, Vidushi also taught her daughter independently to get her ready for pre-school. She had the purest vision, born of love such as most mothers have, for her children, she wanted all three of them to not only live up to their fullest potential, but also to grow up loving and supporting each other in very much the same way she and her own two other sisters did.

As the oldest child of three daughters and two working parents, life wasn’t always easy for Vidushi yet she was never one to complain. Instead she carried her responsibilities with grace and upheld the values of her family with quiet fortitude. These life skills made her into the young woman, the wife and mother that she became.

Vidushi was on the brink of starting her new life, the endless possibilities ahead. She lived through so much heartbreak, sacrifices and gave up her own happiness so that the people she loved could be happy. Vidushi was strong and smart and brave. Everything she did, she did with the well being of her three children in mind.

Sadly, all this was snatched away from her by a virus that knows no mercy. Vidushi never got to experience a true Canadian spring, summer or fall. Never got to see the lake she was living so close to in all it’s summer glory, never got the chance to have a job in Canada, to experience life as a Canadian, never got to even qualify for provincial health insurance, something that she felt was worth making the big move across an ocean for. But worst of all Vidushi wont be on this Earth to see her loving and amazing children grow up.

This goFund me page can never replace a mother’s love. It can never be a warm hug on a cold day, a comforting kiss to make the boo-boos go away, or advice from mom, but it can help her realize the dreams, hopes and aspirations she has for her children. All the money collected from this goFund me account will be saved and invested for her children’s future.

Though we cannot see you anymore,

In the soft caress of a gentle breeze, we shall feel your touch,

In the whisper of rustling leaves, hear your sweet voice,

While blooming roses in the month of June will carry your memory in their sweet scent.

Sing with the angels Vidushi, you will be missed but we know you are with God now.
