In Memory of Sherri Rodriguez

Hello my name is Wanda Pomeroy and I'm fundraising for the family of Sherri Rodriguez.

Sherri passed away on Monday, September 20th due to an unexpected health condition. After being hospitalized for weeks, she lost her battle from an undiagnosed liver condition. Despite seeking care from several medical specialists over the course of several months, her liver condition went undiagnosed. It wasn't until her most recent hospital stay that her terminal condition was discovered. The ICU medical team recommended an immediate organ transplant. From the time of her last hospital admission to her eventual diagnosis, her health rapidly declined. Sherri experienced severe internal bleeding and her body quickly shut down. Within a few short days, our family was faced with the excruciating decision of initiating end of life care. In less than 24 hours, she expired leaving behind her 14-year-old son, Vicente, and her husband of eighteen years, Israel.

For those who have lost a mother, you understand how life-altering this can be for a child. Like so many other exceptional moms, Sherri always put her family first. As the matriarch of her family, she devoted her their life to servicing her family and the elderly she cared for as a healthcare professional. Her daily deeds were selfless acts of kindness. She often times she made personal sacrifices to make life easier, less stressful and more fulfilling for Israel and Vicente, as well as others in need.

Since her passing, the painful mourning process has commenced and is beginning to impact my nephew, Vicente. There have been countless questions about what the future holds and how to process his loss. Questions like…“Why did this happen to my Mom?” “Who is going to take care of me and Dad?” “Who is going to make sure our bills will be paid?” “What will happen to Mom’s things like her cell phone?” “I’m sad my Mom won’t see me graduate from high school and go to college.” The circle of life is a difficult concept to grasp, regardless of age, but having to accept loss of a parent as a child is unfathomable. For the parent trying to console a child, the grief of losing a spouse is often buried deep to help the child/children transition to a new way of life. For Israel, this is now his journey. There will be many difficult conversations, tears to shed, and an overwhelming sense of sadness to grieve through. Please join me in prayer and ask your God to help this family with the healing process.

For family, friends, acquaintances and those who so selflessly support philanthropic requests, I have established this memorial in tribute of Sherri for her grieving family. Contributions will help Israel and Vicente with the substantial, unexpected financial burdens resulting from her passing.

We all know contributions will not heal their broken hearts but hopefully this outpouring of support will help bring comfort during this very difficult time.
