It is with profound sorrow that we share the news that Shane Benton passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2026.
Shane was born in North Dakota and raised in Iowa. He excelled as both an athlete and a student. He attended UND for a basketball scholarship. It was during that time when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a diagnosis that would remain a hurdle for him for the rest of his life.
In 2017, he met Holly, his soulmate, and they were married the following year. Shane was a devoted husband to Holly and a tender, attentive father to their surprise triplet daughters born in 2022. He was a proud uncle to seven nieces, a loving brother to two older brothers and their wives, and a caring son to his parents.
Those who knew him will remember, above all, his remarkable kindness. He was the sort of person who would give his last dollar to someone in need—something Holly witnessed more than once.
This fundraiser has been established to support Holly and their four-year-old triplet daughters. The sudden loss has created immediate practical needs, including funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the means to help Holly and the children begin the long work of moving forward.
Any contribution, however modest, is deeply appreciated. Equally meaningful are memories and kind words shared with Holly and their family.
