In Memory of Lucy Walsh: 2025 fund
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alexis Choi. This is my second year in Firebirds, a dance company of select high-level students at the American Youth Dance Theater. We perform at senior homes, hospitals, and rehab centers. Our goal is to spread joy to the community through our love for dance. I really love being a part of the Firebirds because I am able to give back to the community and help brighten the days of audience members who don't usually get to watch performances. It makes me really grateful that I am able to dance and that I have such an amazing community.
Lucy Walsh was a ballet student and one of the founders of the Firebirds. She was an incredibly talented dancer and a role model for the younger dancers at the studio. She died tragically in June 2011 at the young age of 14. Since then, we honor her by raising money every year to aid children in financial need so they are able to receive dance training that they might not be able to afford otherwise.
One option for donation to help support this cause is to donate to this GoFundMe. Another option is to donate directly to the studio (AYDT). The official information on how to do this is below.
"The Lucy Walsh Fund is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the purposes of The Lucy Walsh Fund must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Donations may be made by check made payable to Fractured Atlas, write in the memo line “The Lucy Walsh Fund” and mailed to:
American Youth Dance Theater
428 East 75th Street
New York, NY 10021".
If you chose to do this option, please email a receipt of your donation to [email redacted] so I can keep track of the donations.
Thank you very much, and please remember that even $5 can make a big difference to help support the future of young dancers!
