A legacy for Liz Kennea - Zinnia Community Garden
Donation protected
We are all deeply saddened at the news that Liz unexpectedly passed away on the 3rd January 2021 - a painful and shocking loss to all of her family and many friends. Liz was one-of-a-kind & touched the lives of everyone around her. She was kind-hearted, witty, intelligent and just a wonderful human who always wanted to do everything she could to help others.
One of the many things that Liz leaves behind is Zinnia Community Enterprise, based in Orpington, which she founded in 2011. This was her passion project, that she often referred to as her baby. Her vision was to create a vibrant, colourful & sustainable community garden where anyone would feel welcome, safe & unjudged.
She believed in eco-friendly, organic gardening, where nothing goes to waste, not even the kitchen sink! Everything had a potential use & a home.
In memory of Liz, and to help ensure her legacy lives on, it is our hope to be able to keep Zinnia running; to develop the site in Liz's ethos and vision. All of Liz’s energy and creativity went into the garden- but in order to keep going, Zinnia needs funds to pay for regular workers and running costs/materials.
More than ever community is important right now in this difficult and challenging time for all - and that’s why we think Zinnia needs to keep going more than ever so that it can continue to survive, grow and offer a welcoming space & sense of belonging for more people.
Liz's family, Zinnia and it's volunteers would be grateful for any help that you are able to provide.
