Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for your support and generosity. We are so incredibly grateful for all the donations we have received. We, the children of Lam Tra, initially created this GoFundMe to support our mother during this difficult time. However, our mother believes that our father was always someone who gave selflessly to others and would not want donations to go to him. Therefore, we believe that it would be best to honor him by donating these funds to support the United Cajun Navy, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to life-saving rescue missions and humanitarian assistance. These funds that are given to the United Cajun Navy are going to support their efforts of actively looking for my dad through fueling planes, drones, boats, and more eyes on my dad’s search.

The Coast Guard has been actively searching for him for 20 hours, and they called off the search last night at 6:30 PM. They had told us that they were searching for him with perfect conditions: the waters were calm and warm, the sun was out, and there were no clouds, so the rescue team had great visibility of the search and had assured us that if he was alive in the water, they would have spotted him. We had a good idea of where my dad went overboard and great technology showing where he could have drifted, and despite all that, there were no signs of our father.

If anyone would prefer to refund their donation, please do not hesitate to reach out. We will work with GoFundMe to refund your donations. All other donations will be redirected to the funds for the United Cajun Navy in 48 hours so they can keep searching for my dad.
