In Memory of Kimi: Support for Her Children

Donation protected
Kimi Blackledge, 44 years old, mother of Eli (18) & Riley (16), was diagnosed only weeks before she lost her life to aggressive non-small cell lung cancer. Her loved ones are devastated and in utter disbelief. Everything happened so quickly, there was no time to say goodbye. And no time to prepare for a world without her.

Kimi could not have been sweeter. She was a dedicated Mama bear, always smiling, yet protective. As a single mom for over 15 years, she faithfully provided for and supported her children. She could always be found at her son Eli's football games since tiny tot's, rain or shine. Kimi and her daughter, Riley, dreamed of future trips to see castles in Scotland and visit their ancestors’ homeland in Finland. She was enamored by her children.

Kimi lived in Chaska, where she walked daily with her dogs, Howie & Faye, crocheted sweaters, and made fun presents for loved ones. She loved horses and rode regularly with her mom, Trish. She was a live music enthusiast, enjoyed working in her flower gardens and the company of her dad, Vic. The holidays hosted by Kimi were always the best—especially when she made quiche. She was full of joy and down for any adventure, as long as it didn't mean that she would miss quality time with her children. And it is for this reason that we organize this fundraiser. She would want to know that Eli & Riley are taken care of. The last thing Kimi would want is for her family to miss rite of passage opportunities because of her absence.

We are not supposed to be organizing Kimi's memorial. We are supposed to be taking prom photos and celebrating Riley’s 17th birthday. We are supposed to be planning Eli's graduation party.

No one was prepared for this tragedy. No one is ready to fully accept that it is true. But sadly, we are all forced to acknowledge it because we feel her loss. If you are able to donate even a small amount, the proceeds will go to a fund for her children. We want them to know it was given in honor of their mother’s bright light.
