In Memory of Kevin Freake

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our dear friend and colleague, Kevin Freake, who lost his life in a car accident on Sunday, January 26th, while traveling to the airport in Vancouver, BC. Like many tradesmen, Kevin worked away from his family and was on his way home to Penhold, Alberta, to spend precious time with his loved ones.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted husband and a loving father, treasured not only as a supervisor but also as a cherished friend to many. For the past 7 years, I had the privilege of working alongside Kevin on numerous construction projects from coast to coast in Canada. He supervised hundreds of employees, earning their respect and admiration with his calm and patient approach. Kevin had a remarkable ability to connect with people—clients, tradesmen, and colleagues alike. He often referred to himself as having "the gift of the gab," but in reality, he was simply a genuinely good person whose warmth and kindness shone through in everything he did.
Kevin leaves behind his loving wife, Ellen, who is a vital part of the Central Alberta community, always organizing events for children and bringing joy to many families. Together, they have created a beautiful life filled with love and community spirit. As they navigate this unimaginable loss, they need our support now more than ever. There are thousands of individuals across Canada who have shared meaningful connections with Kevin, and now is the time for us to come together and show Ellen and their daughter that the community that stood with Kevin stands with them.
Please consider donating to help Kevin's family during this incredibly challenging time. Your contributions will provide them with the support they need to move forward and honor Kevin’s legacy.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
