In Memory of Jared: Support for Ursula and Heath

Hi. I’m Celia. Like so many of you, I was devastated to learn that our beloved friend Jared Kramer passed away suddenly in his sleep on the morning of April 30. The loss is unfathomable — a young life, full of joy and laughter, gone far too soon.

I’ve known Jared since he was a Teenside camper at Surprise Lake Camp, where his quick wit and humor made an immediate impression. Over the years, our friendship grew as we worked for camp in NYC, during the summers, and off-season retreats. It was also at camp that I came to know Ursula — strong, kind, and full of light — when she first joined the staff in 2008. I had the joy of watching their relationship blossom from its earliest days, and I was honored to witness their love celebrated at their weddings in New York and Puebla.

Jared was never happier than when he was with Ursula and their beautiful baby boy, Heath, who just celebrated his first birthday. He adored being a father, and it was clear that his greatest source of pride and happiness came from his family.

Now, in the wake of this unimaginable tragedy, we are coming together to support Ursula and Heath — to help ease the burden of what lies ahead. Whether it’s contributing toward camp tuition, Heath’s future education, or simply helping them navigate the uncertainty of the coming months, every gift makes a difference. I know with all my heart that Jared would want nothing more than to ensure his son and his beloved Ursula are surrounded by love, community, and support.
