In memory of Jackfroot Founder, David Nguyen

My name is Phuong Nguyen. I am organizing this on behalf of my beloved brother and family.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of David Nguyen.

To many, he was the driving force behind Jackfroot. A leader within the AAPI community, a mentor to countless and a fighter for those with no voice. To a lucky few, he was David the son, the brother, the uncle, the nephew, the friend.

Through his platform, Jackfroot, he became an advocate dedicated to fighting Asian hate while also promoting Asian success.

It was through the fruits of his labor, that Jackfroot has become a diverse community platform where the stories, news, media, and anything posted are all sourced and shared to foster communication, promote the good, ridicule the entitled, be a voice for the neglected, connect people or simply put a smile on your face.

It became his life’s mission to spread awareness on important issues affecting Asians all over the world. He fought selflessly for victims of Asian hate and to unite the Asian community through current events. He was steadfast in making sure the AAPI community had a voice. It was not enough for him to be successful, he wanted his family, friends and community to flourish as well.

David always put others’ needs before his own without hesitation, whether it was for family, friends or a complete stranger in need, he never thought twice before providing assistance.

Even with the burden of constantly dealing with the harsh realities of life, he saw beauty in the success of others. His positivity never faltered. He was the light that led and inspired the way for many within his community during their darkest times.

Although David is no longer here with us, his spirit lives on and we know he would have wanted us to continue to raise awareness and help others in every way possible.

That is why we decided to start this GoFundMe. The donations for this will not be going towards any funeral costs nor will it be for David’s family. Instead, all proceeds will go toward the following organizations:

1. NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness

2. TAAF: The Asian American Foundation

3. Stop AAPI hate

We know this is what David would have wanted, and that is to help out his community as his final wish. We want to thank each and every one of you for all the outpouring love and messages. We hear you, and we know David can too.

We miss you, David. We hope you can see all the good you’ve done and the impact you’ve made in the time you were with us. We hope you find peace. You will forever be in our hearts, and never forgotten.❤️
