A few weeks ago, my family lost a dear friend. Ian was a cherished husband and father and is a huge loss to his family, extended family, wider circle of friends and our village community.
Ian was a brilliant man. He was clever, kind, funny, and loved by everyone. He was sadly taken from us at the age of just 68 by a very aggressive form of stomach cancer and after just a short period of illness.
In his final days, Ian was cared for at Florence Nightingale Hospice. The nurses and staff there showed an extraordinary level of compassion. They not only kept Ian comfortable but also supported his family through those difficult final moments. Their kindness and humanity made an unbearable time a little easier, and for that we will always be deeply grateful.
On the 12th October I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon, a race I would have been running with Ian this year. I am running to raise money in Ian’s memory to support the work of Florence Nightingale Hospice. Every donation will help them continue to provide the same care, comfort, and support to other families facing the hardest of times.
Please consider donating, no matter the amount, in Ian’s memory and to ensure that the hospice can keep helping others.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
