Why I'm fundraising for St. Jude
I will be swimming around Manhattan (called the 20 Bridges Swim https://www.nyopenwater.org/20-bridges-swim) on Oct 7th, 2025 and am using the swim as a way to raise awareness and support to fight childhood cancer.
This is the third leg of my pursuit of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming: I successfully crossed the English Channel in 2022 and Catalina Channel last year. While accomplishing these swims is an individual goal, combining it with raising money for St. Jude is an extremely personal crusade.
It is personal because in 2016, we lost our niece, Hadley, after a year-long battle with leukemia. It was the most crushing experience of our lives - the devastation and toll it took on her parents in particular and on the larger circle of family & friends as a whole is something we pray others never have to experience. There is a permanent hole in all of our hearts for Hadley!
It was during this challenging ordeal that we discovered just how amazing St. Jude is for patients and families. Their mission, support, compassion, dedication and commitment are nothing short of amazing.
Their incredible work is only possible through donations- thanks to donors, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
Join me! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
Thanks and Love,
Lindsey :)
