In Memory of Gloria Smith

On Monday, March 27th at 1:27am at the Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, I held my mother during her final moments here on Earth. She was only 60 years old and passed unexpectedly. Her name was Gloria Smith.

This is the hardest experience I’ve had to face. She was kind hearted, always wore a smile, and was loved by many. Everyone who has met her knows just how wonderful and warm her energy was. Her loss is devastating and will be felt by many.

I am truly blessed to have been raised by my mother, she has shown me how powerful and special someone could be. She raised my brother and I alone and has taught me so much about compassion, love, and standing up for what you believe in.

Although her life was difficult, she went to lengths to shield me from it. She showed me unconditional love when the world has been unkind to her. When she was in pain or sick, she would be more concerned about how I was doing.

She has been a major inspiration and influence to me. A lot of the music I enjoy comes from her collection. My love of cats came from her love of cats. She loved helping others, cooking, and had a personality that will be missed by many.

My mother also leaves behind her other son (my brother) Jerrel Smith, her brothers, her nieces and nephews, and many other friends and loved ones.

During this time, we are asking for support for our family as we help cover funeral expenses to memorialize all the wonderful memories we have experienced with her.
