In memory of Diane Ashton: creating Brighter Futures
Brighter Futures is a small charity that aims to reduce social isolation, loneliness, and poverty by providing support and services to local children, young people, parents, the elderly, and those with disabilities in Rhyl.
Diane spent most of her working life in Rhyl. As deputy editor for the local paper, she reported on stories within the local community, in good times and bad. She always admired the resilience of the people of the town, as this spoke to the parts of her that were her strongest – her determination to overcome obstacles, no matter the challenge.
At work and home, Diane was a force of nature. But it was in nature, specifically in her garden, that Diane was happiest — her spiritual home.
As there will be no public funeral service, we would politely ask anyone who wishes to mark Diane's memory to consider donating to Brighter Futures. This small Rhyl charity will be participating in the Postcode Gardener project, a national scheme that aims to restore wildlife and greenery in over 1,000 nature-deprived spaces across the country. Any donations will support this project in Rhyl.
On behalf of Diane, thank you.
