On Monday, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. Our beloved Darnissa, “Ree” was taken from us in an act of domestic violence, leaving behind the three most precious pieces of her heart — her children, ages 14, 9, and 7.

Darnissa was a bright light, a sweet soul, and a beautiful person inside and out. She loved her children deeply and devoted herself to being their mother. Her life was taken far too soon, and our family is now left trying to navigate a loss that no family should ever have to experience.

Her children are facing a future without their mother, and our family is doing everything we can to surround them with love, stability, and support. My mom, dad, their great-aunt, and I will be coming together to raise these three children and make sure they have everything they need as they grow up without their mother.

We are asking for help not only with the immediate expenses that come with such a heartbreaking loss, but also with the long-term needs of Darnissa’s children. Donations will help provide for their housing, food, clothing, school expenses, transportation, counseling and emotional support, medical needs, and the many everyday costs that come with raising three children.

No amount can ever replace their mother. No amount can undo what happened. But every contribution can help give these children some security and remind them that they are surrounded by people who love them and will continue to show up for them.
