In Memory of Christina and the Future of her Boys

Our precious, beautiful and fearless Christina Michele Millikan lost her battle with depression, unexpectedly. Although we understood some of her fight and were doing all we could to love, support and assist her through this season, no one can ever truly understand where someone is in this process, let alone prepare for worst-case scenarios when battling mental illness. Christina’s passing has been and will be an absolute shock to the family for quite some time. The coming months and years are more of a jigsaw puzzle at this point with the thousand pieces the family’s hearts have shattered into.

We as their friends, family and community need to be there to help pick the pieces up and begin putting them back together in order to create a new picture and future filled with hope and happiness. Trevor and Christina’s two wonderful young boys, Tripp Morgan, 10 and Turner Michael, 6, will have numerous emotional and mental mountains to climb and overcome as they grow and experience life’s hurdles, challenges, achievements and overall accomplishments without their mother at their side.

These boys will need us more than ever after the dust settles from this unanticipated loss and once the mind’s natural protection of shock wears off... For all of us who knew and loved Christina, once the celebration of life is over and Christina is laid to rest, most of us will return home to some type of normalcy. That’s not the case with the Millikan’s. This is when their new reality and life will be presented… The coming months and even years are when we need to step up, keep them in our hearts and minds and come in waves with assistance, love and support. Whether it's our time, talents or treasures we offer, we must plan to offer them consistently… Put the Millikan’s on your calendars, a few times each, over the next few years…

Christina was one of the most positive, vibrant, energetic, fun and lively spirits one could be around. Her presence just seemed to shine wherever she went and the light she consistently brought was infectious and would brighten people’s day. She was a wonderful listener and always strove to help others reach the next level of assurance and joy.

When we remember Christina, we will always think about her loud and energetic voice, friendly open arms, beautiful, bright smile, many talents, adventurous spirit, shopaholic ways and love for a bargain. When she found good deals, she just couldn’t pass them up... little did she recognize, all the “good deals” she found, ultimately, cost her a small fortune each time. :-) She was outgoing, strong-willed, a hard worker and a true people person who was so easy and enjoyable to be with.

For those who feel led to contribute and support financially, please know that all funds raised will be used to help the boys through the coming months and years ahead. Everything from food on the table to various expenses and supplies for everyday needs, kids activities, to counseling and their education. Thank you in advance for all who feel compelled to give. Let us always remember the light Christina consistently brought forth so that we can continue to be that light for her boys.
