In Memory of Chaz: In Sorrow We Will Rise

Please help us raise money in memory of my AMAZING sister Chaz
The beautiful woman in the picture below is my amazingly strong sister Chaz. She was an amazing wife and the most amazing mother to two little bundles of joy, aged 2 and 4.

To give you some insight into what made her so amazing, caring and kind, my sister without acknowledgement spent her holidays feeding the homeless and helping others. She never failed to spend her Christmas mornings on the streets of her home town handing out food, drinks and clothes to those in need. She used her position to bring awareness to worthy causes and encouraged all who she came into contact with to strive for excellence.

She was not only my best friend, a BBC Broadcast Journalist, sister, she was my role model and everything in-between.
We lost our father and then our eldest sister three years later but despite our loss, Chaz always found a way to turn a devastating situation into a positive story to help those going through similar devastation.
Unfortunately, in the early part of 2018 my beautiful sister Chaz was diagnosed with an aggressive form of colon cancer and it is with my deepest sorrow and anguish that I write my beloved Chaz, an amazing Mother, Daughter, Wife, Sister and friend passed away.

Chaz fought a great fight against cancer and exhibited such might and strength beyond all understanding. Despite her efforts, God called Chaz home to glory on Monday 17th June 2019, too soon but she is no longer in any pain and her legacy will surely live on.
Chaz was the most amazing person and blessed each and every one of us by just existing. She impacted every one she came into contact with, put others before herself and loved unreservedly. Not one person could say a negative word about her and that speaks volumes to the person she was up until the day she left us.
During the course of Chaz’s journey, we visited a few hospitals. Two places we visited stood out and provided not only Chaz but our family with such care, kindness and compassion.

Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital- The nurses, physicians and facilities staff treated my sister like the queen she was. They tended to every one of her needs and even pre-empted matters before they arose. They helped facilitate a day out for Chaz to see ‘Hamilton’ at the West end and even provided accommodation for family members for the full duration of Chaz’s stay (months) in Basingstoke.
The aforementioned housing allocation is completely free of charge for family members of a patient and is solely run on the charitable contributions of good people. I cannot begin to explain how much of an impact this made on my sister’s life. I was able to stay with my sister 24-7, she was never alone and I had a clean place to lay my head.
I would love to raise a crazy amount of money in order to help fund this facility and help families who travel far and wide to seek out lifesaving treatment at this specialist hospital.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice – This place is filled with the most amazing members of staff. The nurses, Dr Reema and Dr David Riley went above and beyond to help my sister. Words cannot begin to describe the support they have provided my family with and the gifts they have given to my sister’s little boys. They treated my sister as though she was a member of their family. The care delivered here is first class and again this organisation is funded off of charitable contributions and some assistance from the NHS.
Chaz always used to say to me, "when I am better, I am going to come back to Basingstoke and Cynthia Spencer and bless them. I wish I could win the lottery and give them everything they need".
Unfortunately, Chaz is no longer here but I hope you will join me in raising funds not only to help support my sister’s family and her funeral arrangements, but please join me in making a long-lasting difference to the above organisations who stepped up when we were in need, who provided great care and compassion at such a difficult time.
Any donation is welcomed and even if you cannot donate yourself please share this link to those who are able to give and help make a lasting change.
Chaz is no longer with us in body but her spirit, the love she gave and the impact she made will forever live on.
Cancer will never win as Chaz will never be forgotten.
Thank you all again for your love, thoughts, prayers and understanding at this time.
We love you all.
