Scott Badali (January 14th, 1985 – December 14th, 2024)
Dear Friends and Family,
We have created this page to celebrate the incredible life of our dear friend, Scott Badali—one of the kindest, most courageous, and strongest people we’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
Scott was diagnosed with melanoma in 2020 after the removal of a mole on his back. Unfortunately, in 2023, the cancer returned, spreading to his bones, and later his brain, and after a brave and exhausting fight, he is now at peace.
Scott's personal motto during his fight with cancer was — “put my best foot forward, defy the odds and make a name for myself”— this was something he lived every day. Whether on the ice, in his family life, or through his fight with cancer, Scott embodied that mindset. He never shied away from a challenge and always found a way to make things happen, no matter how tough the road became.
As the ultimate Toronto Maple Leafs fan, he stood by them no matter what, cheering through every heartbreak and triumph. His family and friends knew that his love for hockey was not just about a game but a way of life. Whether it was watching the Leafs, coaching kids, or playing the game himself, he always brought the same passion and competitive spirit to everything he did.
The holiday season can be tough, and we know this will be a particularly difficult time for Erin, Scott’s loving wife, and their two incredible children, Brooks (4) and Riley (2). Scott’s parents, Anne and Leo, along with his brothers Andrew and Chris, their spouses, and the rest of their extended family, are mourning this loss while holding on to their cherished memories. Erin’s family is also grieving alongside them as they all come together to find comfort during this heartbreaking time. Scott also leaves an incredible group of loyal and heartbroken friends; who were by his side to the end.
The milestones ahead—hockey practices, dance classes, school events, university, and everything life has in store—will now come without Scott's loving and encouraging presence. This page is for anyone who wants to show support and love to Erin, Brooks, and Riley as they move forward into this new chapter. Every donation, big or small, will go directly to Brooks and Riley to support their future and all the exciting milestones and activities that lie ahead.
And as a reminder: please get your skin checked. Early detection can save lives.
Thank you for your kindness, your support, and your generosity during this incredibly difficult time. Scott’s spirit, love for his family, and strength will forever be part of us.
There will be a visitation at Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles Newbigging Chapel Ltd. on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 4 - 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eglinton St. George’s United Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 (please note parking near church is very limited).
With love,
Tyler & Courtney Townsend, Diana Perl, and Heather Mundy
Words from Scott:
"Through it all, I am reminded of the gift of each new day, the small moments of laughter and love that make life so rich, and the incredible people around me. It's these things that fill my heart with gratitude."
