Dr. Reham El Askary was a passionate learner, a compassionate clinician, a kindhearted friend, a devoted partner, and a loving mother of three. Dr. El Askary taught us all to live every day with optimism, hope, and grace.

Many wondered what drove Dr. El Askary to continue tirelessly in her training, but to her it was simple. She believed that as long as she still found joy in something, she should continue doing it.

Over the course of her career, her unwavering kindness and compassion moved the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Through our many conversations about residency, health, and life, she always reminded me to listen intently to patients, to approach each day with hope, and to experience every moment with a smile.

Dr. El Askary also devoted herself to service and was a shining light in the Edmonton community. She was deeply involved in many charitable causes and consistently devoted time to serve food to those in our inner city.

After discussing with Dr. El Askary's family, we have chosen to fundraise for the Hope Mission as a way to honor her, as she cherished and frequently supported their initiatives.
