Our names are Chris and Jon, and we are twin brothers who have recently experienced the most difficult chapter of our lives.

Nearly a year ago, our dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his abdomen and liver. On top of that, his left kidney wasn’t functioning, but even through all of it, he never let his spirit break. He faced every challenge with strength, courage, and a sense of humor that somehow never faded. There wasn’t a day he didn’t try to make us laugh, even in the darkest moments. Our dad was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served six years with honor. He carried that same strength and discipline throughout his battle with cancer, and we were lucky enough to be by his side every step of the way.

From the moment we got the news, we made the decision without hesitation to put our lives on hold and become his full-time caregivers. We stayed by his side every day, through every doctor’s appointment, every sleepless night, and every painful moment. Caring for him was the hardest thing we’ve ever done giving his prognosis, but it was also the most meaningful. He wasn’t just our father he was our best friend, our rock, and our reason for pushing forward.

After a courageous 10-month battle, our dad passed away on June 14th 2025 just one day before Father’s Day. Our hearts are broken, and we are still trying to come to terms with the loss.

Because we put everything aside to care for him, we are now facing significant financial challenges. We’ve exhausted our savings, and now that he’s gone, we’re trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild our lives from the ground up. That’s why we’re reaching out for help, support, and a fresh start.

Your donations will help us recover from the financial challenges of being full-time caregivers covering the months we were unable to work, the costs of daily living, and the impact that came with putting everything on hold to care for our dad. It’s also helping us create space as we grieve and heal, regain stability, and slowly begin rebuilding our lives after this loss.

We know times are tough for everyone, and even the smallest contribution means the world to us. If you can’t donate, sharing this would help more than you know.

Thank you for reading our story, and thank you for honoring our dad’s memory with your kindness.

With love,
Chris & Jon [ The Cabrera Twins ]
