In Loving Memory of Officer Devan Gales – Honoring His Legacy, Supporting His Children

On April 10, 2025, the Lexington Police Department lost one of its finest, and many of us lost a dear friend, mentor, and brother. Officer Devan Gales, Unit 333B, passed away after proudly serving the community for over 20 years. Devan was more than a police officer. He was a protector, a loyal friend, a loving father, and a genuine light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Devan leaves behind two beautiful children who were the absolute center of his world. As we begin to process this heartbreaking loss, we want to ensure that his legacy of kindness, service, and compassion continues. Not just in our memories, but through meaningful support for his children and family during this difficult time.

I still remember being a brand-new officer, unsure and overwhelmed. Devan didn’t have to say much to make an impact. His presence alone brought comfort. Despite the years he had on me, he never once treated me like a rookie. From day one, he spoke to me like we had been friends our whole lives. He was steady. He was humble. And more than anything, he was kind.

Between calls, we’d share laughs over funny TikToks or nerd out over old-school arcade games—something he loved deeply. Whether it was watching ridiculous YouTube videos or talking about old games from our childhoods, those simple moments with him are ones I’ll cherish forever. He had this quiet, honest way of making the tough days feel lighter.

This fundraiser is about honoring a legacy. Devan gave so much of himself to his community and his department, and now it’s our turn to give back—to his family, to the memory of who he was, and to make sure future officers know the name Devan Gales and the meaning of Unit 333B.

Funds raised will go directly to support his family and children’s immediate needs, future education, and to help ease the burden on his family during this incredibly difficult time. I also hope we are able to establish a lasting tribute within the department, so that Devan’s name and story continue to inspire the generations of officers that come after us.

If Devan touched your life, made you laugh, helped you through a tough shift, or simply showed you kindness when you needed it most, please consider donating and sharing. Every bit helps, and every memory shared is another way his legacy lives on.

Rest easy, 333B. We’ve got it from here.

We love and miss you.
