Hello Everyone,

On Monday, December 16th, 2019, nine days before Christmas, one of my closest and dearest friend Krista Duffy lost her sweet, sweet boy. 

Matthew was only a mere 15-years-old, was Krista’s “Big Guy” her oldest boy of 3. He’s a handsome teenager who loved the typical teenage things. Loved his video games, his friends, the sport of soccer and hockey. Most of all he loved his younger twin brothers and adored his mother.

Krista has doted on Matthew since he was born. He’s the apple of her eye and to lose him is devastating. A mother should never have to bury her child. I can’t even begin to imagine what Krista and her family are going through.  

This is what I know. Some may know more. About a month ago Matthew had gone in to the hospital with what was said to be appendicitis. He was given a couple days aggressive antibiotics then given the all clear. He came home and was recovering well. This past weekend, Krista took him back because she knew something was wrong. She said he wasn’t in pain, but having her mom instinct she brought him to the hospital. There, they did scans and found a large dark mass In his abdomen. They told him they needed to transfer him tho CHEO immediately. There they ran dialysis on him because his kidneys were failing. After his dialysis, they prepped him for surgery to take a look in his abdomen. Once in the OR they found the mass to be fluid but here is where some thing went awry. Matthew’s heart gave out and they couldn’t bring him back. We are currently unsure exactly what had happened when he went to the hospital. CHEO is currently conducting an autopsy and investigation into his passing.

I know that Christmas is literally a week away but I want to open this go fund me page for Krista. This is my way of helping. I want to raise money for this loving mom to help supplement her her lost wages, to pay for funeral costs, anything she and her twin boys need as they grieves for her son/their brother. Although her life is currently at a standstill, the works keeps moving. There’s still bills to pay and her two amazing twin boys still need their mommy.
