In Loving Memory of Larry Baeder II
Dear Friends and Family,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the journey of our loved Larry Baeder II.
On Thursday, April 3rd, Larry was admitted to Gundersen Health’s ICU in La Crosse with a dangerously high fever. As his condition rapidly worsened and multiple organs began to shut down, he was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, a facility known for its expertise in organ transplants and its affiliation with the Medical College of Wisconsin.
There, Larry was diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and life-threatening inflammatory syndrome. Despite the incredible care he received and the tireless efforts of his medical team, Larry’s condition continued to decline.
Surrounded by love, Larry passed away peacefully on April 11th.
During these unimaginably difficult days, Larry was never alone. His wife, Lauren, his mother, Judy, and his sister, Andrea, stayed by his side throughout. His father, Larry Sr., and Lauren’s mom, Nancy, cared for their three children—Trey (11), Will (9), and Ari (6)—at home.
As Lauren and the family begin to navigate life without Larry, they will face many ongoing needs—medical expenses, transportation, and support for daily life as they grieve and heal.
If you would like to help, any donation—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference for the Baeder family.
Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your continued support.
With gratitude,
The Baeder and Smith Families
