In Loving Memory of Jordy: Help Abo and His Family Heal

Our names are Lauren and Jasminka, and we are reaching out for a helping hand to support our dear friend, Abo, in his darkest hour.

We have known Abo for many years and have had the privilege of calling him our friend. We met him in the serene village of Tangkahan, North Sumatra, where the lush jungle meets the gentle rush of the river. Abo is a dedicated jungle guide, known for his warmth, kindness, and the joy he brings to every trek he leads. He is not just a guide; he is a loving husband and a wonderful father to his three beautiful children. His family is his pride, his joy, and his reason for waking up every morning.

However, life took a devastating turn for Abo and his family when their youngest son, Jordy, was born with a rare heart condition. For four long years, Abo and his wife fought alongside their brave little boy, navigating the ups and downs of his health challenges. Despite their unwavering hope and love, Jordy’s condition deteriorated rapidly over the last three months, leading to a heartbreaking hospital stay filled with uncertainty and fear.

Tragically, after a month of intensive care, Jordy lost his battle. His little body was too weak to keep fighting, and Abo was left heartbroken, shattered by the loss of his son. The grief that envelops him is unimaginable, compounded by the crushing burden of medical debt that he had to incur to give Jordy a fighting chance. With no insurance coverage to alleviate the financial strain, Abo borrowed money for treatment and hospitalization, believing that hope would prevail. But now, he is not only mourning the loss of his beloved child but also facing the overwhelming weight of debt that looms over his family.

Abo's life, once filled with laughter and adventure, now feels lost and defeated. His spirit, a beacon of light in the Tangkahan community, is dimmed by sorrow. As his friends, we cannot bear to see him in this state. We know Abo as a man who spreads love and kindness, and we believe he deserves the chance to heal emotionally and find strength in this darkest hour.
