In Loving Memory of John Franklin Edwards
Donation protected
As many of you have heard by now, our father passed away on January 19, 2020, from a horrible car accident. Words can’t describe the devastation to our family…
John F. Edwards was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a self-made man who worked 2-3 jobs while going to law school to provide for his family and create a wonderful life for us in Tustin, California. Not only was he our family, but he was also 43-years sober and family to his Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) community.
As part of the AA community, our Dad attended weekly meetings, several meetings a week, up until the day of the car accident. AA was a very large part of his life, so much so, that while in the ICU, his AA friends were reaching out wondering where was John because he was such a presence at these meetings; his dry sense of humor, laughter, jokes, and willingness to always lend a hand to anyone in need. At his “Celebration of Life,” it was comforting to see how many members of his AA family came to honor him. Hearing the stories of how many lives he touched, how many people he inspired and saved with his 43 years of sobriety and wisdom made us all very proud. Heroes come in all forms and not all heroes wear uniforms. With his personality and wit, he had an effect on people that made you just smile and laugh.
To honor our father, grandfather, and husband, we would like to give back to John’s AA community. Due to anonymity, the AA Orange County Chapter cannot accept direct donations but WE (his family) can accept donations on his behalf and use them to honor him at meetings. It is our goal to personally represent him at each of the meetings he regularly attended to make a donation “On behalf of John F. Edwards.” Any funds collected will be used to buy coffee, cookies and, in John’s name, help keep the meetings alive. Please join us in contributing – no amount is too small. He touched so many lives…it’s what he would want in lieu of flowers or any other extravagance on his behalf. He loved his family. He loved his 43 years of sobriety. He loved his AA family.
You’ve been gone a month and the pain in our hearts is as strong today as Sunday, January 19th. We miss you madly John F. Edwards aka Dad, Daddy & Bapa.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you in advance for your generosity.
