In loving memory of Deran Abernathy

In May, Deran Abernathy–husband, dad, and extraordinary friend–passed away too soon, leaving behind his wife Sarah and their two kids, Eli and Maggie.

If you knew Deran, you knew his heart. You knew the bear hugs and punny wit. You probably saw how he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, with the kind of rare warmth that makes people feel loved and welcome.

Deran adored his family. He cracked dad jokes even before he was a dad, so it seems he was born for the role.

He was the kind of guy who really showed up (even when he didn’t feel his best) and knew how to make ordinary moments feel like a party.

This fundraiser is a way for those who care about Deran, Sarah, Eli, and Maggie to come together and offer support as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Every bit of generosity, love, and community means the world.
