In Loving Memory of David J. Carmona

Dear family and friends,

Never did we imagine having to write these words, having to make this announcement. We are absolutely heartbroken and still struggling to process the death of our beloved nephew, David J. Carmona. Everyone that knew David knows that he was the happiest little boy, with the energy of ten kids, who didn't need much at all to have fun. Life with David was a party every day, and we will miss him more than we can possibly express.

When David was born, the doctors gave him six months to live. He was born with craniosynostosis and had his first surgery when he was six months old. He was also born with a rare genetic condition (argininosuccinic aciduria) and was diagnosed with a seizure disorder when he was around two years old. He had both autism and ADHD, and while his health was fluctuant over the years, he never let that slow him down. David saw this world through a different lens, and he showed everyone around him how to appreciate the simple joys that everyday life brings. He taught us all patience, kindness, acceptance, and unconditional love; also, that it's perfectly acceptable to spend 90% of your time in your underwear if you so desire.

Nothing makes the loss of our sweet nephew any easier, but we are so grateful that we had seven years with him. While our hearts ache for David, he is now in perfect health, our guardian angel, so our focus must shift to his family. Left behind are his parents (Marcos and Liz) and his four siblings (Genesis, Keren, Joel, and Juliette) as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. As you can imagine, they were not prepared for this sudden loss and the financial burden that comes with it. We ask that you keep them all in your hearts and prayers, and if you are in the position to help them financially, even the smallest amount would be greatly appreciated.
