Supporting Yong's wife Ann (Zuqin) and daughter Joy during this tragic time

Hi, we are Yong’s colleagues and friends, raising funds for his family.

Dr Yong Li, a brilliant young scientist at CSIRO Energy, suddenly and tragically passed away on 3 September 2025. He was a rising star in research, but more importantly, a deeply beloved husband to Ann and a proud father to Joy.

At work, Yong was not only a bright researcher but also a generous colleague, always ready to lend a hand. Outside of work, he was a devoted father, husband, son, and grandson, dearly loved by his family and friends. He had an extraordinary love for life and was always eager to explore the wonders of nature.

Yong grew up in rural China, raised by his grandparents while his parents worked away. He developed a strong bond with his grandfather, which inspired him to explore the world. He even postponed his PhD graduation ceremony at UNSW so his grandparents could attend — a wish that, sadly, could not be fulfilled.

Yong’s 10-year-old daughter Joy is currently in Year 4. She was the very center of his world. Every step she took, he wanted to be there to encourage her and give her the best start in life. His passing, just a few days before Father's Day, has left her little world shattered.

Yong was the breadwinner for his family in Australia and a source of hope and pride for his family in China, supporting his parents and grandparents. Through her tears, Ann said, “Our sky has fallen.”

This fundraiser is created in loving memory of Dr Yong Li. Its purpose is to provide both immediate and ongoing support for his wife Ann and their daughter Joy during this profoundly difficult time.
