Robert—also known as Dad, (Mr.) Abuelo, and *Chief—had a special place in his heart for the Senior Center and the community he built there. Since 2015, he spent countless hours working and volunteering for WCI Nutrition Project , always showing up with kindness, humor, and genuine care for everyone around him.
What some may see as “work” was never just work to him, it was his purpose. Even when we encouraged him to slow down, he never really could… because this is what filled his heart.
He built more than relationships there, he built a family. The seniors, the community, and his coworkers became an extension of us. This was his second home, his chosen family.
That purpose also helped carry him through some of his hardest moments. Even while battling cancer, it gave him strength, something to keep showing up for, and a reason to keep going.
Up until the day he entered the hospital, Robert was still there—still giving his time, still caring for others. That’s just who he was.
In honor of his life, we are raising funds to give back to the Meals on Wheels Program that meant so much to him. It feels like the most meaningful way to continue his legacy—by supporting the community he loved so so deeply!
Thank you for helping us honor Robert
