In the first week of May 2023, my mother, Nancy Neal, entered into hospice care at Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.

My mother passed away with me by her side May 20th, 2023.

Comfort House is a non-profit facility that does not burden families with fees, and does not seek medicare or medicaid reimbursement by choice.

It is a ten bedroom home run by a small staff and volunteers and community support. It is truly an amazing place, and the only place like it in Texas.

I cannot put into words the relief Comfort House provided to me during my mother's last weeks. Having provided home hospice care for my father 14 years ago, I knew I could not care for her at home myself, but I did not want her in a cold medical facility either.

I will always support Comfort House. The care they provided for my mother and the solace they provided me is a debt I can never repay.
