The Gift of Time in Memory of Millie Young
Dear family and friends of Kyle and Courtney Young,
As we remember, on October 3, 2020, our beautiful niece, Mildred McCoy Young, was born and died at Riverside Methodist Hospital. What you may not know is that the family was given precious time to spend with Millie in their hospital room thanks to something called a CuddleCot.
To know Courtney and Kyle’s story with Mason and Millie is to know love, strength, and heartbreak. You may wonder what can be done to help loved ones going through such a difficult circumstance and how you can show your support in a meaningful way.
For Courtney and Kyle, nothing was more important than the time they were able to spend with Millie in the hospital – precious mother and father moments, big brother meeting his baby sister, grandparents holding their granddaughter, treasured family photos. Having a CuddleCot available at Riverside allowed them to keep Millie in their room for over two and a half days while Courtney recovered from surgery. Being together as a family in those moments meant everything.
A CuddleCot is essentially a cooling unit inside a bassinet that preserves the newborn’s body for several days. It’s something most of us could never imagine needing and unfortunately not all hospitals may have this resource available for families. For those that do, a CuddleCot can provide grieving parents additional time with their baby before saying goodbye.
To honor Millie’s first birthday and show our love for Kyle, Courtney, and Mason, we’d like to come together to raise funds to donate a CuddleCot to a local hospital, in hopes of giving more families the gift of time.
