Mammy and Daddy of Hero Thomas Peter Henry-Fradgley - Help us raise this £2000+ to help fund for a “Cuddle Cot” which cost £1750 and anything over will go straight to the Tiny Lives Unit at the RVI.

Here is our story - My name is Charlene and my partners name is Raymond. On the 18/5/22 I gave birth to our beautiful baby boy Hero, he was 31+6 weeks weighing in at 3lb 5oz a lovely weight, but unfortunately he was born with a rare defect called CDH, just like his Mammy! Due to this, all of his organs grew in his chest cavity which squashed his lungs and pushed his little heart to the right. With him being premature he was took to the Tiny Lives High dependency Unit at the RVI. Our little Hero seemed to be doing so well for the first 12 hours, he was fighting strong and showing the world that he could do anything. This all changed on the 19/5/22 at 12noon. His lungs started to congest and his little heart was over worked which caused his heart rate to drop, all the doctors and nurses done everything they could to help our little boy fight all the way until he couldn’t fight no more. Our Son couldn’t take anymore of the machines, the medication and his little body was to week for the crucial surgery he needed to free the pressure of his organs squashing his lungs and heart. On the early hours of Friday morning 20/5/22 I lay awake with Raymond by my side awaiting news that we really did not want to come, but it did! I heard the ward door open and then that knock on my room door, my heart sunk and I new in my heart our little boy could not hang on any longer. They said it’s time!! We had our son brought to us in the quite room of the Tiny Lives Unit with all his little tubes still in and he was still alive at this point. We held our Hero in our arms and said our last good byes. As much as we didn’t want to let him go this wasn’t about us, Hero looked at us with so much pain in his eyes as if to say Mammy, Daddy please take these tubes out! So we done what was best for our son! We took his pain away and we done that with Pure Love and strength for our son! We got to spend the rest of the night with Hero at the Tiny Lives unit, this was all possible due to the crucial bit of equipment called a “Cuddle Cot”, because of this Cuddle Cot we then got to spend a full week with our boy at the Tiny Lives Unit, we had all day everyday with him in the quite room and we could of also took him home, but we decided to keep him in the safest place the Tiny Lives unit where Hero was looked after with the upmost respect, love and care. If we never had access to a Cuddle Cot we would of never been able to have that special time with our son making a hand full of memories that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. The unit has 4 of these Cuddle Cots which they share with the birthing centre down stairs, we were asked if we set this page up and raise the funds for a Cuddle Cot, would we be willing to donate it to a Comunity undertakers/funeral director instead of the Unit. We said Yes! as Tiny Lives work very closely with the “4 LOUIS” charity to help supply the Cuddle cots as you can’t just buy them. Everything on the Tiny Lives unit is Charity based from a packet of biscuits to the Training Courses that all Nurses need to save these Tiny Babies lives. There are many things that the Tiny Lives Unit raise funds for and have funds donated for, these include - Cuki Miniboo Bonding AIDS - The Vcreate video Messaging Service for all parents and parents that can’t be with there babies all the time - Claire’s Nets that the babies lay in and many more crucial things that these special little Humans need to Fight there fight everyday to stay alive. Me and my partner are donating the first £500 to our Boy’s Hero memory Fund and we ask all of you to please read our story and help us help other Family’s have the chance to take there babies home before there little Funerals, which means a family need a funeral director that has this crucial equipment to help make this possible so they can have there babies last night at home before they have to say goodbye forever! We are going to be donating this Cuddle Cot to Richards funeral services, he was our Hero’s funeral director, Richard did not charge us a penny for the little extras we asked for with our son’s cremation. We are aiming to raise £2000+ so that anything over the purchase of the Cuddle Cot can go towards the Tiny Lives unit to help buy other crucial things needed to help the unit keep doing amazing things for all the family’s and babies they take care of. We thank you as a family and we thank you on behalf of our little Angel Hero Thomas Peter Henry- Fradgley as well. Let’s create some good out of the worst situation we as a family have found our selves in! Please!!…..
All our thanks and love Hero’s Mammy and Daddy xxx
