Imagine a football ground that truly serves the whole community — modern changing rooms, a welcoming clubhouse, accessible facilities for everyone, and a pitch ready for the next generation of players.

That’s the future we want to build at Wirksworth Recreation Ground — and with your help, we can make it happen.

Football has been at the heart of life in Wirksworth since the early 1900s, with football having been played on the Recreation Ground since 1921.

From young players pulling on their boots for the first time to supporters gathering on the touchline, the Recreation Ground is a place where memories are made and community spirit thrives.

But our facilities now need significant improvement to support the growing game and to provide the welcoming environment our players, volunteers and supporters deserve.

We’re raising funds to make several vital improvements, including:

⚽ Upgrading the changing facilities -

Our current changing rooms are outdated and no longer meet the needs of modern football. Improved facilities will create a better experience for players, officials and visiting teams.

Building a new hospitality clubhouse -

A new clubhouse with indoor and outdoor seating will give supporters, families and volunteers a place to gather, socialise and enjoy matchdays together.

♿ Improving disabled and general access

Football should be for everyone. We will improve disabled access and overall entry routes to the pitch, making the ground more welcoming and accessible for all.

Creating hard standing for spectators -

New hard standing areas will provide safe and comfortable viewing spaces so supporters can watch games throughout the season.

Improving the pitch for the future of football in Wirksworth -

Pitch improvements will help us expand the club and support new teams, including girl’s football and a new Under-18s team in partnership with Wirksworth Colts starting this summer 2026!!

And maybe it’s time for a Veterans side..!

Fundraising Targets

£3500 - brand new hospitality area, which will be in place before the start of Pre-Season. Creation of new u18s team.

£6000 - New hard standing down top side of the pitch, creating a nicer environment for supporters. New entrances to the ground, including disabled access.

£15,000 - new changing facilities, and new toilets for supporters. New maintained 5 aside pitch for training / youth games.
