Improve the Chelsea Dog Park

Hi, I'm Matt! I live in Chelsea and have two Labrador Retrievers, Charlie and Lucy. We love going to the Dog Park every morning, where we meet up with a bunch of dogs and their owners. Aspen, Eddie, Chili, Lemon, Roux, Selah, Milo, Belle, Charlie II, Freya, Mr. Peanut Butter, Luna, Lovie... The list goes on (and if I forgot to mention your dog, a thousand pardons). The dog park has been so beneficial for my dogs to socialize and exercise, and it's also been really good for me for the same reasons. I really appreciate what a wonderful dog park the city has provided.

If you haven't been to the dog park, I welcome you to come check it out; it's great! If you have been, you might have noticed that with all of the water that these thirsty pups need, there is a large area in front of the water spigot that gets very muddy.

A group of us got to talking about what we could do to address this issue, and someone (thanks, Jodi!) had the great idea to reach out to the new City Manager. We met with him and a representative from the Department of Public Works this morning, and they couldn't have been more helpful. They have a plan to put in a drain, add new concrete, and route the water outside the park. We also asked if they could fill some holes where trees were once planted, and we have our fingers crossed about getting a trash bin installed near the entrance path for people to deposit waste on their way out.

We are setting up this fundraiser to raise money to cover the costs of getting this work done. If you enjoy the park and would like to contribute, any amount will help. If you cannot afford to contribute - that's totally fine - please just pet your dog for us and tell them we said "hi." Maybe bring them to the park to have some fun sometime? Any surplus over the cost of this project will be set aside for future dog park improvements.
