Immigration legal fees to keep a family together
Donation protected
We are seeking contributions for the immigration legal expenses for 5 members of a Central American family (2 parents and 3 children) who live in the Tidewater area and who need more than $20,000 to pay their immigration attorney. 4 of the family members have asylum cases and, because they are so complex, their cases were not accepted at a pro bono immigration law clinic. Thankfully, friends and community members have already raised $5,000 toward their goal, so we are hoping to raise the rest with your support!
These immigration cases are very labor-intensive for immigration attorneys and therefore are very expensive. We are working to ensure all payments are made on time so the case can move forward.
This family has experienced grief and loss. Afraid for their family’s safety and wanting a safer and more stable life, they decided to cross the border seeking asylum. Their hearts were broken that they would have to leave their parents in their home country that they love.
The family has connections here in Tidewater, and have welcomed a daughter to the family since moving to the US. Both parents work in the community to support their children and send money back to their families in Central America.
Working together with them, we will make every effort to see that they are able to remain safely in the Tidewater area.
