Imas Bosnië 1

Hallo allemaal!

Wij zijn 15 leerlingen van het Wolfert Tweetalig uit leerjaar 4/5 havo en vwo. Samen gaan wij in februari 2023 naar Capljina in Bosnië voor onze maatschappelijke stage.

We vragen jullie om hulp!

Bosnië is nog steeds herstellende van de genocide die er in 1992 tot 1995 heeft plaatsgevonden. Dit is nog steeds te zien aan vele gebouwen die nooit meer opnieuw opgebouwd zijn.

Tijdens deze oorlog waren de Bosnische Serviërs het niet eens met het uitroepen van de onafhankelijkheid in 1992. Daarop is het leger van de Bosnische Serviërs diverse Bosnische plaatsen binnengetreden (met name in Oost-Bosnië dat aan Servië grenst) en heeft daar de niet-Servische bevolking uitgemoord, opgesloten in gevangenkampen of verdreven. In 1995 vond er een massamoord plaats in Srebrenica waarbij circa 8000 moslimmannen en –jongens om het leven kwamen.

Wij zullen hier in februari heen reizen als maatschappelijke stage, in samenwerking met Stichting Out of Area (https://www.outofarea.nl/), voor onze school Wolfert Tweetalig. Deze maatschappelijke stage, ook wel IMAS, is een verplicht onderdeel op onze school waarbij we anderen in arme landen gaan helpen. Wij zullen verblijven in Capljina, en zullen bij een school daar de gymzaal opknappen. Er moet een hoop gebeuren, hier hebben wij geld voor nodig en hopen wij dat u een steentje kan bijdragen!

Wij en de kinderen in Bosnië stellen elke donatie op prijs en wij hopen dat jullie ons hiermee kunnen helpen.

Hello!

We are 15 students of the Wolfert Bilingual from year 4/5 havo and vwo. Together we will go to Capljina in Bosnia in February 2023 for our international internship.

We ask you for help!

Bosnia is still recovering from genocide that took place there in 1992 to 1995. The effects of the war can still be seen in many buildings where there was a lack of funding to rebuild them.

During this war, the Bosnian Serbs did not agree with the declaration of independence in 1992. The army of the Bosnian Serbs then entered various Bosnian towns (particularly in eastern Bosnia, which borders Serbia) and killed the non-Serbs there. Their population was massacred, imprisoned in prison camps or exiled. In 1995, a mass murder took place in Srebrenica, killing approximately 8,000 Muslim men and boys.

We will travel there in February as an international internship, in collaboration with the Out of Area Foundation (https://www.outofarea.nl/), for our Wolfert Bilingual school. This international internship, also known as IMAS, is a compulsory part of our school curriculum where we will help others in less fortunate countries. We will stay in Capljina, and will refurbish the gym at a school there. A lot has to be done, we need funding for this project and we hope that you can contribute! We have already begun smaller funding programs at our own school but we need all the help we can get.
