I’ve been offered a chance of a life time, but I need your help!

My name is Jayden Clarke, I’m 13 and from Barnton, Northwich, Cheshire. My school, Weaverham High School, have offered me the opportunity to take part in a trip to Costa Rica in the Summer of 2028. This will be the Summer Holidays before I go in to my final year of GCSE’s.

When we were told about this opportunity, I was so excited about finding out more about the wild life and helping with the conservation work that is happening in Costa Rica. I will also be able to help in Community Projects, building things that the local communities will benefit from for years to come.

As part of the trip I will also, hopefully, achieve an accredited Scuba Diving Certification, and then be able to help with some of the conversation work with the marine life. This will include work protecting the turtles and their ecosystem.

This is a fantastic opportunity for me to help but also learn an awful lot. As you can imagine this is a very expensive trip, and I want to earn it, with the end goal taking part in ‘Camp Costa Rica’. I have asked my parents for my Christmas and Birthday presents to go towards this and I know I will still be a way off my goal. I have had an approximate cost for the trip (Including my jabs!) to stand at £6000, so I am going to be very busy trying to raise these funds, but it will be worth every minute!

I’ve had an idea that I would like to help my local community at the same time as hopefully raising funds for this trip of a life time.

In order to do this, I intend to commit at least 10 hours a week for the next 18 months, to cleaning up our local community. With my trusty picker and relentless bin bags in hand, initially starting in Barnton but if there is interest, and with the support of my family, I will visit anywhere in the Northwich area, collect and recycle any litter I can get my hands on. If you are willing to support me, then I will even tackle any messes left by our fury friends!

If you can provide any images of the area you would like us to visit that would be great, so we can see what we are up against, and come suitably armed to tackle the problem.
