Twelve months ago, I wouldn't have believed any of this was possible. And I'm not just talking about the weight — I'm talking about who I've become along the way.
The first photo is me at my heaviest — 26 stone — on my first ever trip to New York. I wasn't the kind of person who could keep up with a city like that yet.
I'm going back. Except this time I'm not sightseeing — I'm running 26.2 miles through it, at the TCS New York City Marathon on 1st November 2026. I needed a goal big enough to match how different I feel now, and scary enough that there's no going back.
I'm raising money for Rotherham Hospice because they've cared for some of my own family. I've seen firsthand what they do for people through the hardest moments a family can face, and it deserves to be supported properly.
I'll be posting my training between now and November — good runs, bad ones, all of it. Follow along and help me get from Rotherham to that finish line in New York.
Every pound raised helps give more Rotherham families that same care when they need it most. If you can spare something, thank you — genuinely. If you can't, a share means just as much. See you at mile 26.2.
