Y’all. I’ve found myself without a home and without a car.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

Of course it isn’t funny but it is what it is and I’m refusing to be embarrassed or ashamed. I’m more than a conqueror and I almost died last year. This is a stop on my journey. I just need help right now!

UPDATE!

As I’ve been going through this process, I’ve realized I underestimated my need. My initial ask was to cover my transition in a shorter term capacity, but my village has helped me understand the need to plan for longer term stability for me and my children, so I have increased the goal.

The increased goal will not only cover short term housing and transportation, but will go towards the costs associated with a new residence (first month and deposit), rent for as many months as it will cover, and towards reliable transportation.

I thank all of you who have donated and assisted in this transition so far! I am so appreciative and am truly blown away by your generosity in such a short time.

I hate to be creating this and writing this. Times are tight for many. When I say I have called and spoken to, visited, applied, emailed, shown up, requested every type of assistance, program, voucher….On the phone and visiting offices from the time I wake up to the time they close. Without a car. So grateful to my over 70 year old godmother and her bestie for driving far and taking me to these appointments and places. Even the shelters by me I’m waitlisted for because they are FULL! I’m waitlisted for everything.

Now, how did I end up here? Well…divorce 2021, reduced to disability income, and in the hospital and recovering majority of 2022 after almost losing my life and foot. Yes it’s as dramatic as it sounds. I didn’t choose the thug life. It chose me!

And the final strike, no child support or alimony for at least the last 5 months even though it was what I was promised. Maybe I’ll put that story in my next book.

I have a place to live in waiting but it will not be ready until early March.

So what is my ask?

I need a safe space for me and my kids that’s close to their school so I can cheaply Uber them back and forth until I get a car. I plan to stay at an extended stay hotel until the temporary housing I’ve been waiting for becomes available, and will use remaining funds to cover more permanent housing and transportation.
