Donation protected
The village of Askole in Gilgit-Balistan is the last stop before the basecamps of four of the world’s fourteen 8,000+ meter mountains, including K2 (world's 2nd tallest mountain).
1,000 villagers in 90 homes have been without electricity since January 2019. The nearby hydropower plant broke down due to too much snow melt caused by climate change. Victorian-era lighting solutions like kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas currently being used are expensive and dangerous.
For just $60 per person or $60,000, the village can be equipped with household solar lighting systems providing sustainable and safe lights. Your contributions will be rewarded with a community made gift!
