As youth in Illinois, we recognize the great impact that this election has had on our families, schools and communities. Because most youth were unable to vote in November, many have felt a lack of power over our own futures as citizens of this country. Our hope is to eradicate those feelings and take a stand for the issues that we care about most. We will stand in solidarity in Washington D.C. on January 21st to make our voices heard and take part in a political scene that we are frequently left out of. Our aim is to make the voices of youth from diverse backgrounds be heard so that the age restrictions put upon us no longer control the extent to which youth experiences are present in politics.
