I will be running the Ilkley half marathon on July 13th with the aim to raise some money for 2 causes close to my heart. As a busy Mum of 3 and a primary school teacher, running gives me time to think without anybody needing me. But running this distance will be a real challenge! Any support will be greatly appreciated.

Half of the money will go to Macmillan cancer support. This is a cause very close to my heart. They provided invaluable support to my family when my mum was sadly diagnosed with incurable lung cancer. They continue to do amazing work everyday. I will be forever grateful for the support they gave us through such a difficult time.

Half of the money raised will support a fundraising campaign for the school I work at. We are raising funds so that we can continue to provide access to a specialist counsellor.

In England, research indicates that around one in ten primary school children (aged 5-10) have an identifiable mental health condition, highlighting the importance of early intervention and school-based support.

I have seen first hand the positive impact that the specialised support can have on those children who need it most.
