We are high school students, Elizabeth Ee, Stephanie Fu, and Angela Yin. Our goal is to support Refugee Children in North Texas and people affected by the SNAP benefit reductions.

Through our involvement with a World Refugee Day Festival in Richardson, TX, we gained a sense of urgency and aspired to support the young children we met. They expressed so much energy and joy, but it was clear that they lacked necessary support to grow their education and passions. For example, the elementary schoolers at the Refugees education & talent program with Light & Salt academy sang in a choir instead of performing with Instruments, due to a lack of funding.

In order to support these young refugees passions, it was important to us to be able to collaborate with an organization that could directly connect us to directly connect us to our group of interest. Ma'Ruf Dallas than introduced us to their Food Pantry Program; this brought our attention to the increasing need for food support within our community, in terms with this year's SNAP benefit cuts.

Under section 10102 of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025” titled, “Modifications to SNAP Work Modifications for Able-Bodied Adults”, families with children, elderly people, adults with disabilities, and veterans are being highly limited and even cut off from life-sustaining supports from the national Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program [SNAP BENEFITS]. This section includes increases on the upper age exception to 65+, limits on the exception based on responsibility to care for a dependent child to those with a child under 14 years of age, removing exceptions for homeless individuals, veterans, and those 24 and younger who aged out of foster care, and more. Our goal is to support the millions of people affected by these modifications.

The total of our profits are going to purchase of foodstuffs to the Ma'Ruf Dallas Food Pantry, and towards school and art supplies for the Light & Salt Educational Academy.
