Iftar for local refugees - The RAW Project London

Assalaamu’alaykum wa ramatullahi wa barakaathu 

A small group of sisters in West London have come together to to help Refugees in the local area. 

There are over 500 refugees living locally in Hayes, Hounslow, Ealing, and Slough. They are all in emergency accommodation and come from all ages and backgrounds. There are families with children and single adults. We work with the refugees directly and 100% of all donations are used to assist them directly.

The refugees are given 3 meals a day. Each meal is often cold, mass produced and lacking in essential nutrients and mostly do not fit dietary requirements such as food intolerances or religious requirements etc. 

They do not have any cooking facilities and are not allowed to use microwaves or any portable cooking appliance. We want to support our brothers and sisters with a little extra love and kindness through out the month of Ramadan. 

They have curfews to meet, which if not complied with they suffer immediate homelessness. We do not know what the situation will be with lockdown during Ramadan and with many of the refugees unable to travel due to these restrictions and the accommodation terms & contiditions, they may not be able to attend masjid for Taraweeh prayers. 

We would therefore like to provide as much care and support as possible. We will try to provide what we can across the 3 locations in Hayes, Hounslow and Slough. 

We rely solely on people’s kindness and generosity to help these people who are in need. Therefore we are organising this fundraiser to offer Iftar daily throughout Ramadan and something a little extra special on EID in the form of a variety of meals from different countries for a little bit of extra comfort ❤️   

As a minimum we intend to offer the refugees the following:

1. Iftar daily throughout Ramadan  including dates and milk 

2. EID day special meal 

3. Small gifts for the children on EID 

Any funds raised will go DIRECTLY to the refugees, and any funds raised above what is needed will go towards our ongoing fundraiser to provide food and essentials through out the year .
