Ife's campaign for MAMAS IN NEED
The first time I met Nina was at a fundraiser she had put together to raise money for this "infant" project she had started in 2017.
She didn't have a registered charity number so everything that went into kicking starting this organisation all came from her pocket.
I sat down with the friend that had so graciously invited me along and I watched as this one woman band, this driving force and power house set to work to make sure the event was a success and it was.
Right now as I speak Nina's "infant" project has began to blossom and is at "toddler" stage meaning it's fully registered...
As her now"toddler" project takes its first steps, the organisation has purchased a cute little white van emblazoned with the charity name and number and Nina driving all around the UK picking up all sorts of donations.
But, there's still a long way to go.
Starting with Nina's ultimate dream to have a fully functional clinic large enough to accommodate in-patients that are unable to properly care for themselves if sent home. This is Nina's ultimate dream!
But there are many other things in between that we could all band together and address.
Lots of clothes donations and bric-a-brac have generously been given to Nina and Nina would love to ship all these items to Nigeria, then sort and grade them over there.
She is looking to rent or build a shop where some of these items can be sold to generate money to keep the make shift centre she has at the moment running in Abia state, in villages called Abiriba and Ohafia.
The make shift centres are where the widowed mothers and their babies and children come for care and attention. Feminine products are given away and essentials for babies and toddler are also supplied at no cost, free medical attention is also given where possible.
These things are not cheap and at the moment, even though Mamas In Need is registered, it is barely bringing in any funds.
So, as I sat there at the fundraiser watching this beautiful soul at work, I looked up and said to myself, it WILL all fall into place.
