I am taking part in The Serpent Trail 50km on 4th July to raise money for ICUsteps Peterborough.

My dad went through a horrific time — Whilst in hospital he peri-arrested on the ward, was intubated, and taken to ICU. Mum and I were told it was not looking like a good outcome, and we had no idea what the future would hold.

After many weeks of being intubated, fighting multiple infections, and developing a large DVT in his left leg, Dad eventually had a tracheostomy placed and the breathing tube removed. A special thanks goes to the ICU team at Peterborough City Hospital for saving Dad’s life. ❤️

ICUsteps Peterborough has been incredible. They’ve supported Dad by helping him speak with other ICU survivors, and they’ve supported Mum and me by connecting us with families who have been through similar experiences.

I want to raise awareness for ICUsteps so that no one has to feel alone. ICUsteps Peterborough is here to support people and help them understand the process of what may have happened.
