Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we need to cancel our annual Expo Icrontic for the first time since it debuted in 2004. We're going to greatly miss seeing all of you.
In addition to being the lynch pin of Icrontic's in-person regular gatherings, Expo also serves as our annual fundraiser to keep Icrontic and NewBuddhist online for the rest of the year. Without it happening this year, we could use some help.
Our recurring costs for the sites include web hosting (Digital Ocean), email delivery (SendGrid), code hosting (GitHub), file sharing (Google Drive), web fonts for our sites (Typekit), spam filtering (Akistmet), and domain registration.
We effectively have about $300 in the bank, which is only enough to get us to when we'd normally open ticket sales in May. We're asking folks who are able and interested to contribute to site operations to cover our operation costs thru May 2021. We'll call it a "pay what you want subscription" where the subscription is your normal access. If enough folks buy subscriptions, everything stays online! Yay!
If we exceed our goal, the additional funds may be used for:
* Preparing for future events.
* Commissioning art and design work for the sites (usually from community members).
* Paying for technical support if needed (usually from community members).
* Sending a little "thank you" swag to contributors.
* Keeping funds in reserve for unexpected costs.
Thanks everyone! Keep it rad out there.
